There are many buildings on Earth that astronauts can see directly from space. In fact, some can be seen without the aid of glasses, or only with the naked eye.
But first the definition of Earth’s atmosphere and space begins to be equated. That is, through the Kerman line, named after the physicist Theodor von Kerman,
which is considered the boundary between Earth and the ends of outer space. Space notes that the Line of Kerman is defined as 100 km above the Earth’s surface.
Uniquely, the Great Wall of China, often described as visible from space, is so tall that it is not among the structures that astronauts can see from space.
Former ISS Commander Chris Hadfield confirmed this, tweeting that the buildings follow a geography of “very tight + natural shapes and colors”.

Bingham Canyon Mine
The mine site is approximately 32 km southeast of Salt Lake City. The mine is so large that it can be seen not only from the unaided Kerman line, but also from NASA spacecraft that fly between 305-531 km above sea level.
Three Gorges Dam
This dam on the Yangtze River in China has been revealed by NASA as visible from space. It is 185 meters high and more than 2 kilometers long, reports France 24.
This dam is the largest power generation center in the world. The Three Gorges Dam is said to be the most expensive hydroelectric dam ever built.
Palm Jumeirah Dubai
NASA claims that the extension of the artificial island can be seen from the Kerman Line. Even astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) can see clearly using an 800mm lens.
For information let us tell you that ISS orbits at an average altitude of 400 km above sea level.
Roads in Barren Areas
Some highways can be seen directly from space, Hadfield said. Especially those who travel through arid areas like deserts and depend on conditions and lighting.
Dark pyramid
The Pyramids of Giza in particular are debated as to whether or not they can be seen from space. British astronaut Tim Peck said he could not see the large structure clearly through the 800mm lens.
Meanwhile, former NASA astronaut and ISS commander Leroy Chiao said he could see the pyramids in orbit. “There’s a lot to see from the ISS, even with the naked eye,” he said.
“For example, one finds a large pyramid with a telephoto and can pick out two large pyramids with the naked eye, as long as the light and weather conditions are good, as two small points”.
